Dining
The Riverine Lodge offers buffet, à la carte, and continental breakfast each morning. Lunch and dinner are prepared by on-site chefs Ashton, Mandla, and Kamo, who accommodate special diet menus including halaal, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. Evening meals include a boma night under the stars, and the team can arrange a private dinner in the guest's room upon request.
Safari
Daily game drives within Welgevonden Game Reserve are led by guides Simon, Petrus, or Lazarus. Mornings start with coffee in the bush and evenings end with sundowner drinks at sunset. Guests regularly spot the Big Five - lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino - sometimes all in a single day.
Rooms
Each chalet has air conditioning, a private bathroom, and a seating area. Some rooms include a terrace or balcony overlooking a rock formation and cliffs; Room 5 offers the best mountain view. Room 2 is closest to the main lodge, making it convenient for families with toddlers.
Relaxation
The outdoor swimming pool is surrounded by sun loungers and umbrellas. An outdoor fireplace and a shared lounge with a TV area provide indoor relaxation. Tumi offers in-room massage treatments using her mobile spa setup.
Location & Access
The Riverine Lodge sits inside Welgevonden Game Reserve, approximately a 20-minute drive from the main wildlife area. Access is via the East Gate after a 2.5-hour drive from Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport. A private shuttle from the gate to the lodge is provided, and Polokwane International Airport is 207 km away.
